Swoon as you enter the foyer with it's sage green walls and burgundy rose border.  The ornate antique mirrors adorned with vintage beaded  hats & purses and velvet and lace pillowed rococo settee beckon you to wander in and explore. To the left is the parlour. Paprika colored Ralph Lauren paint & suede textured walls set the tone for this Western Victorian room.  Rich sienna colored velvets, vintage laces and art leathers drape a c1900 empire and overstuffed sofas. A Magnolia Pearl style lace & vintage fabric covered trunk adds an artful twist for a table, while hand woven Navajo and Tibetan rugs and pillows accent seating and walls.  Beautiful glass hand painted lamps reminiscent of Handle,Tiffany and Galle add illumination to the oil paintings and antique pictures that adorn the room. Antique decorative arts including hand burned Victorian trinket boxes and Victorian glassware authenticate the decor and help guests to venture back in time. Take time to read an old c1900 newspaper from Winslow and elsewhere to see what prices in furniture and clothing cost back in the day. Walking through the gingerbread spandrell that tops the 9 ft pocket doors leading into the butter colored walls of the family/dining room you will notice an "Oriental Corner"  complete with authentic Asian furniture in rich tones of red, black, orange and green, typical of the period, when traveling to such exotic places was "de riguer" and showcasing ones souvenirs found on such voyages was classic Victorian decor.  And last but not least, is the bedroom.  The Violet Rose bedroom which is named after Alice Mary Friend who lived in this home for over 70 years.  The room is painted in softest robins egg blue with violet accents.  The rose colored carpets, floor to ceiling lace curtains, hand carved mahogany armoire and antique dresser and crisp white lacy linens adorn this room which is adjoined to the violet colored walls of the private bathroom housing the 6ft clawfoot tub, vintage washstand and modern separate shower with amenities. Lovely handmade and spa bath products fill the oak shelves of this vintage decorated bathroom. Come stay with us!
